Born in 1947 in Aalsmeer The Netherlands.

Started his career as journalist with De Volkskrant but changed to documentary photography and photojournalism.

Trained as documentary photographer at St Joost School of Art in Breda.

Independent photojournalist and documentary photographer since 1978.

As photojournalist he works for newspapers and magazines, including the dutch daily Trouw.

Works also on human interest documentary projects such as Mysteries, Scars of War and African Workers.

Was several times commissioned by M?decins Sans Fronti?res and UNHCR to photograph their projects in Liberia, Somalia, Sudan, Bosnia and Tadzikistan.

Was recently commisioned by the dutch charity Kerken in Aktie to photograph watermanagement projects in Zimbabwe and health programs in Indonesia.

Works currently on the project ShipWorks; a picture-story on the "Dock and Shipyards Royal Schelde" in Vlissingen, The Netherlands.

Works with Nikon 35mm, Plaubel Makina 6x7 cm  and Linhof Technica 4x5" camera's on color and black/white negative film.

Lives in Amsterdam.
